First off, I'd like to congratulate Mr. Fangorn and his Giants on their big Super Bowl win on Sunday. As you may recall Mr. Fangorn predicted this win way back in September of 2011.   In other news, a new season of "The Voice" started right after the Giants were crowned kings of the NFL. (What a time slot for the show!) The first two episodes of the "Blind Auditions" did not disappoint, lots of boobs, former mouseketeers, and a tall glass of Mr. Blake Shelton himself.

I started off this new season of "The Voice" with reading the article written about the show in last week's Rolling Stone magazine. It basically states that the whole "American Idol/X factor" equation had been played out and Mark Burnett (the czar Executive Producer of reality TV) was specifically looking for a new singing competition format. The first season was proof that a talent competition need not your "evil judge" and silly (and awful) auditions. In fact the article states that many of the talent showcased on the "The Voice" are actually suggested by industry talent scouts. 

This first week of the Blind Auditions was proof that America really does have singing talent. Though not everyone got chosen by a judge, everyone was a very good singer. The only drama from this show stems from the judges being competitive with each other and fighting over the really great singers. Such a refreshing change from the humiliation tactics that we see on other shows.

The contestants are so good in fact, I cannot pick any front runner at this point. Once the teams are settled, I will write on whomever gets to go through. However, for now, let's all just enjoy the show and a good, clean, old fashioned singing contest.

As a side note, the four judges sang a Prince medley that was really fun to watch. Imagine, judges that actually are talented in their field.... who woulda thunk it!
